Families with children, elderly people, and those with disabilities remain in danger until shelling destroys their homes.
\nThey fear the road, but they fear even more being trapped under the rubble.
\nWhen they board the bus, their eyes show both exhaustion and hope.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought I was already dead\u2026\u201d says Mrs. Valentyna, who was evacuated from the village of Oleksandrivka.<\/p>\n

After yet another shelling, her house turned into ruins. The walls collapsed, the roof caved in, and she was trapped under the debris.
\nShe could see nothing, hear nothing\u2014she thought it was the end.
\nAt that moment, her dog Jack began digging through the rubble. He barked, scratched, and clawed until a sliver of light broke through.
\nBy touch, Valentyna found a rope, pushed it outside, and whispered:
\n\u201cJack, my dear, pull\u2026\u201d
\nAnd Jack pulled her out from under the ruins.
\nWhen Valentyna arrived at the transit centre in Pavlohrad, her hands were still trembling.
\nToday, she and Jack are safe.
